Attention to Eastern Partnership program is ‘decreasing’: Azerbaijani MP

Some problems and crisis-oriented trends are observed within European structures, and attention to the Eastern Partnership program is decreasing, said Samad Seyidov, Azerbaijani MP, chairman of the parliamentary Committee on international and inter-parliamentary relations, APA reported.

The Azerbaijani MP is taking part in the international parliamentary conference “EU and Partners – Embracing Diversity for Stronger Unity” in Tbilisi, Georgia.

“Various initiatives are being put forward to increase the attention to this program. There are various ideas around which an exchange of views was conducted. From this point of view, the position chosen and proposed by Azerbaijan is the most correct one. This position is that it is necessary to protect the provisions adopted under international law in Europe and throughout the world. The most important among them is the recognition of territorial integrity and the right to self-determination of states, as well as concrete work in this direction,” said Seyidov.

According to him, the join statement adopted at the Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels shows that Azerbaijan’s position is the most correct and powerful.

“If all international laws and principles are observed, instead of adhering to any artificial approaches, then all Europe and the Eastern Partnership countries will be able to better understand problems and future of each other,” he added.
