In case of policy change, Armenia may join regional projects – Azerbaijani FM

Tbilisi. Nizami Mammadzade – APA. Azerbaijan and Georgia are implementing a number of joint projects, including Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway which will be commissioned this year, said Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov at the meeting with his Georgian counterpart Tamar Beruchashvili, APA’s Georgia bureau reports.

Mammadyarov said the projects of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars pave the way for the development of not only Azerbaijan and Georgia, but also the entire region.

The minister said the reason Armenia is left out of these projects and unable to benefit from regional cooperation is the aggressive policy it pursues against Azerbaijan.

“It’s not only Azerbaijan that suffers from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, so does Armenia, because they are left out of all regional projects. If Armenia changes its policy and begins to fully support Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, of course, it may join these projects. We hope this idea will sooner or later come to the Armenian leadership’s mind,” Mammadyarov underlined.
