EU says new deal with Azerbaijan should be worked out properly

The work on the new agreement between the European Union and Azerbaijan goes well, Kestutis Jankauskas, Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, told reporters in Baku on Friday, APA reported.

“I think that the next stage of the negotiations on the new partnership agreement between the EU and Azerbaijan will take place by the Eastern Partnership summit on November 24,” he said.

The new agreement reflects the fundamental principles of future partnership between the EU and Azerbaijan, Jankauskas said, adding. “Therefore, it’s more important to work out the agreement properly, rather than in a short time. It would be better if the agreement was prepared before the summit. If we fail to get things done by then, we will have to keep the same pace in the negotiations in order to finish the work.”
