Erdogan calls Israel an ‘occupying and terror state’

A comparison of the territories of Israel and Palestine in 1947 and now clearly points to the conclusion that Israel ‘is an occupying and terrorist state’, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“Anyone walking the streets of the ancient city of Jerusalem (al-Quds) will realize that the city is under occupation,” Erdogan said at the extraordinary summit on Jerusalem of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, an APA correspondent reported from Istanbul.

The Turkish leader noted that on December 6 the United States declared its recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, overlooking international law.

“The announcement of such a decision with regard to this city cannot have any force. In accordance with the decision of the UN Security Council, within which the US has the right to veto, no country is allowed to open an embassy in Jerusalem. The only support to this illegal decision of the US came from Israel, which holds Jerusalem under occupation,” said Erdogan, stressing that Muslim countries unanimously rejected this decision in the very beginning.

“We stated that this decision has no force in light of conscience, law, morals, and history. This actually means punishment of Palestinians, who seek peace. A comparison of the territories of Israel and Palestine in 1947 and now clearly points to the conclusion that Israel is an occupying and terror state,” he added.
