Azerbaijan gets status of guest at OECD Development Assistance Committee

Thanks to systematic efforts made by Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) since 2015, Azerbaijan has been granted the status of guest at the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Foreign Ministry told APA.

Cooperation with the OECD Development Assistance Committee, which promotes the economic and social well-being of people around the world and brings together donor countries, is of great importance to Azerbaijan, which has turned into a new donor country, said the foreign ministry.

“Participation in this leading organization’s meetings will earn Azerbaijan more international influence, make our country’s donor activities more efficient, and help form new partnerships,” the ministry added.

The OECD is an intergovernmental economic organization with 35 member countries, which was founded in 1961 to stimulate economic progress and world trade. Apart from 35 OECD member countries, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, India, Latvia, Lithuania, Peru, Romania, Russian Federation, Kazakhstan and South Africa also hold the status of guest at the OECD Development Assistance Committee.
