Russia holds Victory Day military parade

Russia celebrates the Victory Day, marking the 72nd anniversary of the USSR's victory over Nazi Germany with military parade.

APA's Moscow correspondent reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of Moldova Igor Dodon and Russian government officials attended the parade.

The Victory Day parade involved about 10,000 people and more than 114 pieces of modern armaments and military hardware. A total of 17 helicopters and 55 combat planes. The parade kicked off after Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu reported to Vladimir Putin that all troops are ready for the parade.

Firstly, cadets of military schools, soldiers and officers of the air and land forces, Naval Forces, Interior Troops marched across Red Square. Then female servicemen of the Military University of the Russian Ministry of Defence and other higher military schools marched across Red Square.

Following it, military vehicles drove through the Red Square.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions in the Moscow region it has been decided to cancel the air show at the Victory Day Parade on Red Square.

Vladimir Putin and Igor Dodon met with World War II veterans, laid the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
