UN secretary general expected to visit Azerbaijan

Baku. Javid Zeynalli – APA. A UN delegation led by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is expected to make a visit to Azerbaijan on February 20.

The information and PR department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism told APA that the UN Alliance of Civilizations has held the 2nd meeting of the Organizing Committee of its 7th Global Forum, which is scheduled to take place in Baku in April.

 

Chairman of the Organizing Committee Abulfas Garayev said in his speech that under the order of President Ilham Aliyev bilateral documents with the UN Alliance of Civilizations have been confirmed and have come into effect. The Forum’s logotype too is ready and its website (baku.unaoc.org) is already in use.

 

The minister said the heads of up to 50 states will be sent invitations and that the forum will be attended by senior state officials. On the first day, 40 events will be held and the necessary conditions for that are available. 

 

The minister mentioned that UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is expected to attend a youth-related event on April 25 as part of the Forum.
